BankservAfrica will upgrade the Managed Network Service (MNS) firmware and software of the MSE devices and core switches in Randburg, Selby and Teraco Isando. These changes are pertinent from a governance and audit perspective to bring all these devices to the latest recommended firmware version to ensure overall stability on the MNS.

All network changes have been planned with minimal impact; however, there might be intermittent network disruption during these change windows for all inbound connections to Selby and Randburg and Teraco sites respectively when the switches reboot during the individual changes.

Implementation will be conducted at the below times. Note that although five hours has been allocated to the implementations per change, the actual implementations will likely take only a fraction of the time allocated. The remainder of the time will be utilised for monitoring network stability and performance post implementation.

Part 2 - Selby MSEs and core switches upgrade change

Randburg hosted services will be unreachable for 30 minutes. There is potential impact to the following services, to minimise impact one device will be upgraded at a time and services will be switched to Randburg for the duration of the change.

o API Connections for AVS-R and RTC
o Delivery
o AC Batch (Mandates & Collections), AC Realtime Mandates
o AVS Batch and AVS-R

Part 3 - Teraco Isando MSEs and core switches upgrade change

All Xconnects and AWS hosted services will be unreachable for 30 minutes. AWS services will have no mitigation as they are currently solely hosted in Teraco Isando. Customers with alternative connectivity will failover to their DR connectivity. Customers without alternative connectivity will be down for the duration of the core switch upgrade. Anticipated downtime will impact the following services:

o API connections for AVS-R and RTC, AC
o Delivery (SBSA)
o All connections from on-prem to AWS [ AC Realtime (on prem) to AC Batch (AWS) && AVS-R (on prem) to AVS Batch (AWS)]
o Payshap

This upgrade is planned to have minimal impact; however, there might be brief intermittent network disruptions during this maintenance window due to the necessary rebooting of the routers and switches.

All routers and switches are redundant, and they will be upgraded once at a time to minimise any potential disruption.
